Tragedy struck Japan Plane Crash at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Tuesday when a Japan Airlines Airbus A-350, flight JAL-516, collided with a Japanese coast guard aircraft, a Bombardier Dash-8 MA-722, on the runway, resulting in a devastating blaze.
Transport Minister Tetsuo Saito confirmed that Japan Plane Crash all 379 occupants of the JAL flight managed to evacuate safely, while the coast guard plane’s pilot also escaped. However, five crew members on the coast guard aircraft lost their lives in the incident.
Social media footage revealed passengers sliding down inflatable emergency slides amidst flames emanating from the rear of the burning plane.
The Airbus A-350 had flown from Shin Chitose airport near Sapporo to Haneda. Passengers recounted harrowing experiences, with one describing a sudden impact upon landing, followed by sparks outside the window and the cabin filling with gas and smoke.
Anton Deibe, a 17-year-old passenger from Sweden, shared a chaotic scene within the cabin, where smoke quickly filled the space. Passengers threw themselves to the floor and rushed towards emergency exits as darkness and chaos ensued.
Despite the tragic circumstances, Minister Saito assured that all efforts are being made to investigate the collision thoroughly. Haneda Airport is currently closed, with aviation safety investigators and police working diligently to determine the cause. Saito expressed the intention to reopen the airport as soon as possible, potentially by Wednesday Japan Plane Crash.
